My first PC was in the early 80s - for that xmas a prominent local politician mate of my dads got us our first pc game: Spies Demise.

Then BBS door games with an rpg feel to them in the early 90s.

The first MMO i played was Ultima Online and that is still active today, and the record holder of 2nd oldest rpg that is still running.

Then i went to Rift, then World of Warcraft. Start of covid i went from WOW to UO and been playing the latter since. I just subbed for another 6 months recently as i enjoy play it.

Revisited WOW end of last year and have to admit, besides the initial grind, i love the End Game content. For me its Raids, PVP and world events.

Past 4 years i never PVPed in UO at all. Why? Because it generally is geared for skirmishes or duels (i prefer strategic teams) and am in Sydney Australia and play on the actively crowded Atlantic shard which is USA East Coast so yeah latency is the issue when i have to predict my own movements let alone theirs with my lag.

In the past month that i started playing WOW i have played many hours of PVP. Why do i love it? Objectives. Your team can be severely undergeared but if youre doing the objectives right, you can prolly notch up a win and the perks from it. Nothing brings a smile to my face more than that. On the flipside though, sometimes you get into Epic Battlegrounds 40 vs 40 and theres a loud mouth giving everyone traffic directions like he the lollipop lady and we fail miserably.

Top up leveling 4 toons to max level was a breeze and nothing like the grind FF XIV is - in one month where i only got to l evel 51 of 100 on a single toon with heavy play time.

Started the New Year on a bang with WOW battlegrounds and got my 3/3 dailies sorted. You know youre gonna win when you see the things your team mates do to enhance the game experience. Sometimes 1/3 may take a few retries to get the win bonus or maybe even a ragequit, but yeah first new year run and perfect.

I remember back in the 90s when i joined my first guild on UO and one of the guys i was chatting with told me so and so in our guild was 70 years old. I was in my 20s then and thought yeah i can see me doing that too!
